6 Steps To Getting Started On Social Media

Do you know what you need to do in order to start an account on Social Media? Bob already covered the use of Social Media in the post Are you making full use of Social Media usage. And there are many users investing in cheap tiktok likes that help them with the initial. Today, I am going to cover getting your account started so you can make the most of social media. The first thing you need to consider when it comes to Social Media is is your user name. Below I am going to walk you through the individual steps it takes to create a Social Media account for your online venture and get started networking.

Side Note: Social media is not about the number of followers you have. It is about the number of QUALITY followers you have. Not to get too preachy on you but a well-known figure in history only had twelve disciples and had one dinner that we are still talking about it thousands of years later. If twelve quality followers were good enough for him why do you need 30,000 followers but you only associate with 6?

Getting Started on Social Media

Step 1: Go to Social Media.com

I realize this sounds redundant, but this tutorial is meant for those people who have no clue what Social Media or social media is.

Step 2: Create your account

At this stage, you will have the opportunity to create your user name, password, etc to actually create your Social Media account. FYI: It is best to create an account that is close to the name of your venture. In this case, I used “Socialmediax” This user name was already taken so I chose “xsocialmedia.” At this point, nothing is set in stone so you can continue the process without worrying about being locked into a username you don’t like.

Step 3: Getting started Tweeting

The next page will take you to the welcome page in which the “Social Media Teacher” instructs you that “This is a Tweet. Tweets are short messages that have up to 140 characters and can contain links like http://Social Media.com.” Click the next button to take you to the “Build your Time Line” page.

Step 4: Build your Time Line

Next, it is time to build your timeline so you can start networking and getting the word out about what you are doing. The system recommends that you choose five users to follow. These followers are whose tweets you will see when you log in to Social Media or when you launch “Tweetdeck”, which we will cover in the future posts on more advanced Social Media techniques. Once you choose 5 clicks next. This page will ask you to choose 5 more users to follow. Use this as an opportunity to choose a few things of interest. We can’t be all about business now, can we?

The next page you come to is going to ask you to find other people you know on Social Media by using your email list. Unless you already have an email account connected to the same username as your Social Media account I would suggest skipping this step. You can always add those you want to your Social Media account later.

Step 5: Add a photo

Whether you decide to add a photo of yourself or the logo of your venture is up to you. I have a photo of myself on my @fullfigureplus page and have no problem with it. It really depends on how you want to brand yourself in terms of social media. If the business is your main focus your logo maybe for the best, if you are a blogger then “you” are the brand so your photo would work better to show the face behind the blog.

Step 6: Start Tweeting

At this stage, you will see tweets from those you are following. Not only is this time to get to know those who you are following, but let them get to know you as well. This is a good time to fill out the rest of your profile. I won’t bore you with the details, but I will say that once you get started if you do no confirm your email pretty quickly the system will lag behind in sending your a follow-up confirmation email.

This tutorial is meant to get you started on Social Media. Up next we will cover integrating your venture across different social media platforms, using WordPress plugins to help you out and the best techniques to take full advantage of Social Media.
