::LOVE is a Photo::

November 10, 2008

Every so often I go through the family photos I have stored away and print out a whole bunch of 4x6s for my wife to put in albums. Yes, even professional photographers do this. Earlier tonight I came across one of my favorite photographs of my wife and kids. It was just a quick snap shot before we headed out to a meeting, but it was as if something hit me and I had to ponder how important photographs are. It is the power that a photo holds: they draw us closer to those we love, they remind us of why we’re in love, they display love to us for years to come.
I can vividly remember sitting at my in-law’s house going through old Kodachrome slides on a projector. It was so much fun, to sit there with a bag of popcorn and see my wife growing up, feeling like I was a part of it. Seeing photos of birthday parties and feeling as if I was there. I know it might be old school, but get out the old albums, shoeboxes, slideshows on disc, whatever you may have, and relive the moments again.
Anyhow, I hope everyone out there takes lots of photos this Holiday Season. Some moments happen only once, but you can relive them through photography forever. Enjoy.

James Wilder: You have a beautiful family, Scott! It makes the holidays extra special I'm sure.

Yeah... I couldn't believe, as we were reading tonight with the candles lit, our reading music of choice was.... Christmas music! Nostalgia is creeping in.

Mary-Ann: You are not only a great photographer but a great writer. I love reading your posts! Love the photo.Looking forward to Thanksgiving...MA
