This awesome couple is from St. Louis and flew out to sunny, errrrr, rainy California for their engagement session. Their wedding will be at Mulvaney’s in Sacramento (one of the coolest venues I’ve ever worked at) and I can’t wait. Even though we had to deal with the rain and the cold (yes, that happens in California) they were both awesome subjects for my cameras and they made it happen. It was cool riding in their car from one spot to the next and seeing a bunch of bridal magazines on the back seat. I know Charlayne and her planner (Sacramento Wedding Planner: Kendra Wershing) are going to come up with some radness for the wedding day.
So we photographed around downtown Stockton and then we headed out near my studio in Linden, CA. One of my goals this year is to show more of my black and white work. I love the feeling of it and there is something so “real” about a photograph when it is “colorless”. Anyhow, I hope you don’t mind seeing more black and whites this year. Enjoy.

This awesome couple will be married this July at Edgewood Country Club in Lake Tahoe, CA and I’m so stoked to finally be sharing some of their engagement session photographs. Samantha is so sweet, so down to earth and she also does triathlons (I seriously felt like a wimp when she told me that). I remember our first consultation and how excited she was about her wedding. It is really cool to work with couples that are so in love you can feel it. Samantha, you’re awesome and you are going to be a stunning bride. I can’t wait until July. Mike is an all around awesome guy and it was nice to get to know him a little more at dinner at Riva Grill in South Lake Tahoe after the session. Mike was cool with anything and totally trusted me, I should have made him stand on his head or something right? Probably not, he’s a former college football player. Anyhow, I am enamored by clients like these and so happy to be sharing my photography with them.
We started out photographing in the freshly fallen snow and it was a perfect fit for the cowboy/cowgirl outfits. Samantha’s family has a ranch up in Montana so they are legit! Then we headed down to the beach at Edgewood and we had the most amazing light to work with as the sun faded across the Sierra Nevadas and beautiful Lake Tahoe.

The first day I met Kindra and her mom, I knew that I wanted to photograph her wedding.  There is something about a bride who appreciates the artistic side of photography that melts my heart and Kindra did just that.  Then when I met Paul, I was stoked that I had another groom who I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt was totally in love with his fiancee and a great dude.  I could really see myself hanging out with someone like Paul in school, he’s just a cool, laid back guy that is genuine and down to earth.  These two are getting married next summer and I’m absolutely stoked to photograph their wedding in Stockton at Annunciation Cathedral.

We cruised around to some of the “less desireable” areas around town and then headed to an awesome field that was freshly cut just for us.  Kindra and Paul’s daughter came along for a few photos and I had a hard time not having her in every photo, cuteness overload.  So here are a few frames from our session.  Enjoy.

So Kindra was giving me a hard time about posting teasers on the blog and how she didn’t want to wait, well, the rest are almost done but not quite so here is a teaser! I love the connection that Kindra and Paul have and to me that is totally what this image is all about. We had an awesome time and found some sweet locations around Stockton so I can’t wait to show the rest of my favorites from this session. I’m also really looking forward to their wedding coming up next July! Enjoy.

Ashley and Isai came up from the Los Angeles area (where their wedding will be next April) for their engagement session. They are the sweetest couple and it was nice to finally meet them in person as we’ve handled all of the booking via phone and email. Isai proposed to Ashley on a trip to New York with some friends right on the Brooklyn Bridge! How cool is that?
We started off with some photos in the industrial area around the San Francisco Design Center (which is actually a pretty cool wedding venue) and then headed over to Chrissy Field for some sunset photographs in front of the illustrious Golden Gate Bridge. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding and be with them on their special day.
On another note there are two very special things that happened while photographing this session. In one frame you’ll see some kind of bird who decided to fly overhead while we were at the beach and made a great frame even more awesome! In another one, you’ll see how the flare (created by the sunlight hitting the glass elements of the lens) that I captured came out looking like an angel. Now I don’t want to get a bunch of people wanting to pay $1 million for my “Angelic Flare Lens” but I thought this was super cool and I might be calling the National Enquirer. So here are a few frames from the day. Enjoy.

Angel Flare!
