::Breaking Traditions::

November 18, 2008

So this may not be news to every person reading this blog, but here is a great option to add to your wedding day. A photo guest book. This is a custom designed album with images from your engagement session. Instead of, or in accompaniment, to a traditional guest book for your wedding you can have a beautiful coffee table style album with images and little notes from friends and loved one.
These books are a lot of fun and are much better idea than a matted signature frame. A few years down the road, the frame with everyone’s name on it will probably start looking a little dated. But a nice casual coffee table album, classy for years to come. Just another non-traditional offering from Scott Andrew. Enjoy.

::Josselyn 2009::

What an awesome session we had out at Knight’s Ferry (big thanks to Steph Baker for getting me all stoked on this place) for Josselyn’s senior photo session. Josselyn has such a sweet personality, a great outlook on life and amazing hair. She is really interested in photography as well, so you never know, you may just see her shooting a wedding with me in a few years.
We cruised around to the amazing offerings that this location has and able to get some gorgeous images. Here are a few of her favorites from the shoot. Enjoy

We still have a few openings for holiday portrait sessions in the coming weeks, but the deadline is December 1st, if you want anything printed before Christmas. Family sessions are fun, relaxed and you’re guaranteed to have the raddest Christmas cards anyone has ever seen. Your family might even have to put special glasses on to see the cards because the photos will be so amazing and the card design so rad! Yes, you must warn them. Haha, anyways…make sure you contact us for the dates we have open.
Everybody likes a good deal around the holidays, so Scott Andrew Fine Photography says, “I’ll play!” If you’re a former client and would like to order some prints for Christmas, use the promo code “CHRISTMASLOVE” when checking out of our proofing site!
Here is a fun one from last Saturday’s family shoot with the Nolan’s. They were so much fun and the girls, Alyssa and Taylor, were way too cute to describe so you’ll just have to see the photo. Enjoy!

::LOVE is a Photo::

November 10, 2008

Every so often I go through the family photos I have stored away and print out a whole bunch of 4x6s for my wife to put in albums. Yes, even professional photographers do this. Earlier tonight I came across one of my favorite photographs of my wife and kids. It was just a quick snap shot before we headed out to a meeting, but it was as if something hit me and I had to ponder how important photographs are. It is the power that a photo holds: they draw us closer to those we love, they remind us of why we’re in love, they display love to us for years to come.
I can vividly remember sitting at my in-law’s house going through old Kodachrome slides on a projector. It was so much fun, to sit there with a bag of popcorn and see my wife growing up, feeling like I was a part of it. Seeing photos of birthday parties and feeling as if I was there. I know it might be old school, but get out the old albums, shoeboxes, slideshows on disc, whatever you may have, and relive the moments again.
Anyhow, I hope everyone out there takes lots of photos this Holiday Season. Some moments happen only once, but you can relive them through photography forever. Enjoy.

Hi everyone. Last month I shot this awesome wedding with my friend Orbie Pullen from Santa Cruz. He is an amazing photographer and becoming a super cool friend. It was the first time I was able to second shoot for somebody in a long time and it was actually therapeutic. No pressure, just show up, try some new stuff and go home. I think everybody should second shoot every once in awhile (I wish I would have done it more than twice this season) because it helps you grow and see things differently.
Anyhow, I wanted to blog about this wedding for one main reason: the ceremony was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. I know I made some of you cry with my last post about NILMDTS, but grab some more Kleenex. During the ceremony, Ian made a special vow to Erin’s daughter. He told her how he knew he could never replace her real father (who died a few years ago), but that he would do everything he could to be the best dad ever. Coming from Ian (a cop and MMA fighter), this was so touching. I don’t think there was a dry eye around as everyone watched them embrace as a new family. God, thank you for giving me such a wonderful job to be a part of things like this. Enjoy.
