Hi everyone. After shooting an awesome wedding with Orbie Pullen over in Livermore on Saturday night, a bridal show in Modesto on Sunday and a full day today…I am beat. I need to go to sleep right now, but I’ve just got to blog about my latest Class of 2009 model, Alexis. She is a sweet girl from right here in Stockton and will be representing Stockton Christian School.
We met this afternoon and went over a few things about the shoot, then decided to hit a cool little hallway near the Miracle Mile. Well, Alexis’ little brother was supposed to keep an eye on her car and purse, but like little brothers sometimes do, he wandered off! And guess what? We get back and her purse is gone. Wallet, her camera, car keys, ID, cards, etc. I was so upset and I felt soooo bad for her. So we checked where we were shooting, looked around some more and as we were walking back to the car I said a little prayer.
I didn’t really know what to do, but I didn’t want to just give up so I said, “hey, let’s look around and see if we see someone with it!” So we took no more than 25 steps and I catch a glimpse of brown leather to my right! Booyah, there sits her purse! And guess what, all the money is there, the camera is there, the keys are there! A TOTAL MIRACLE folks, right on the MIRACLE MILE! I was so stoked and we got to continue the shoot!
To sum things up, we had a blast and I think I shot some of my favorite images ever. I am really becoming infatuated with shooting straight into the sun. I’ll probably go blind, but it is really becoming part of my brand/signature. Here are two images that I just totally fell in love with! I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more images from Alexis’ shoot, Nayeli’s tomorrow, shots from the bridal show and maybe some from Saturday’s wedding. Take care and make sure to leave some blog love.

I think that is what you want to say when you see a little one as cute as Rori Lane. She must get her cuteness from her favorite uncle. :) Everyone meet my little miracle niece, Rori. She was born several months premature almost 2 years ago when my sister Tawni had an eclamptic sezure. I remember the phone ringing early in the morning, the fear that gripped my heart as my mother told me that my sister was in an ambulance on her way to the hospital. I was in utter shock and I remember immediately putting on my robe and kneeling at my couch to pray. I didn’t know what else to do.
To shorten a long story, Tawni and Rori Lane (I love middle names, we need to use them more often), are both fine and dandy! The UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, CA took good care of them and we are thankful to God for the miracle that He did.
Fast-forward to today and you’ve got a rambunctious munchkin who has a ton of personality and a bushel of determination! We had a tun of fun cruising around Old Town Sacramento and shooting some cuteness. Enjoy the images and leave Rori some comments below.

We had a fabulous day at the state fair a few days ago, it has become something we do as a family every year. Yeah, a tradition. Eden was super stoked to see the Llamas and Huntley was feeling like the chubby kid at the prom, “just happy to be there.” We saw some great art by the most talented young artists in California, fed some deer, goats, wallabies, saw some insane, crazy Chinese Acrobat Stunt Artists, lots of “amazing” cleaining products, a phony hypnotist and lots of people. The fair is over so if you missed, too bad, go next year! Oh yeah, waaay too much GREEN stuff this year. Green cars, green shoes, green food, green cleaners, green EVERYTHING…so much green, i was green in the face! I’m all for being conscious about recycling, waste, consumption and not being too much of a jerk to the environment (check the vid last month), but I am totally through with all the green stuff in my face. Anyhow, thanks for the rant. Enjoy the pics of the kids and my hot wife!

We have some talented kids in California. Support your local art groups and local artists. Don’t let schools cut art programs.

Eden is funky fresh yo!

Huntley trying to untie my shoes. The little sucker would not leave them alone.

Cheryl & Huntley. His first time to pet a farm critter! This is the petting zoo where a deer tried to eat my camera strap, he didn’t know I was an NRA member! jk.

Eden and the stubborn little Llama, oh well at least he didn’t spit on us.

A three year old and tea cups are like me and skiing. We could do it all day, every day!

Yes, professional photographers use the same nerdy cutouts like you! haha.

Our little niece Ashlyn, yay, she can walk now!

The mighty Chinese Acrobats, doing some cool stunt work. These guys are amazingly ninja-like.

I had to get one with the man, the legend, the Ansel Adams (haha, you really thought I was going to say myself, cmon). After having shot a wedding in Yosemite a few weeks back, I felt extra close to him!

Happy Labor Day to all of my fellow Americans. It has definitely been an eventful week for myself. Here are a few things going on and then a few more images from Liz and Wayne’s awesome wedding!
-I’m stoked to have someone as good looking as Sarah Palin in politics, old Ted Kennedy just doesn’t have it anymore.
-I just got my itinerary for my trip to NYC next month to shoot an engagement session! I’m super stoked about that.
-I met with an awesome couple getting married in Tahoe next year and they are BOTH taller than me (I’m like 5’11″, not short by any means)! We haven’t booked yet, but I’m hoping they do so I can buy a nifty step-stool to shoot from!
-I shot at the amazing Martis Camp in Truckee, CA where Jose Feliciano sang and absolutely ripped it! He is seriously talented on the guitar and probably one of the most underrated guys out there! So humble and so nice! I’ll post some shots this week.
-I just got back from the California State Fair and had a great time except for the little deer in the petting zoo that tried to chew my camera strap. Wallabies are pretty cool characters, goats are punks. Also, that place was like a fashion show. More D&G, Ed Hardy, Juicy and whatnot. I guess I’m guilty too for wearing my Ed hat.Oh yeah, the Chinese Acrobats were amazing. Wow, I want to go do some flips in the backyard now!

On to the main topic. I love the artistic embellishment that we photographer’s have affectionately termed “lens flare.” It is so sweet! Every lens has a signature flare to it. From the reds of my 50 1.4 to the aquas of my 70-200, I love it. I love the flare especially when shooting a beautiful couple such as Liz and Wayne. The flare is almost symbolic of the love that is in the air! It’s just something that looks surreal. Anyhow, technically shooting into the sun can be a pain, but the results are waaaay worth it. Enjoy the images and leave some comments below, just for fun!
