::What A Week::

July 20, 2008

Wow! I just got home from our church’s summer camp and I am thoroughly exhausted. Staying up until 4 o’clock in the morning to make sure that the campers aren’t putting toothpaste in sleeping bags, shaving off eyebrows, sneaking out to see their girlfriends and causing general mayhem. But what a great camp. We had a ton of fun, met new friends, and grew closer to Jesus Christ! It is truly awesome to see young people committed to something other than a video game. I was able to get the camera out a few times, but next year I’ll try to shoot a few more. Leave a comment at the bottom. Enjoy!

::Are You Worth It::

July 11, 2008

According to our beloved Environmental Protection Agency here in the United States, the average American citizen is worth $6.9 million, down one million from 5 years ago. They use this figure for all types of statistical analysis, but it bugs me. Can you really put a value on a life, an eternal soul? No way! I want all of you to know, you’re priceless. The word of encouragement you may off to someone struggling can’t be quantified. There is no price tag for the couple who takes in a struggling orphan and shows him love for the first time. There is not a value placed on the joy that a smile of a baby brings to his or her parents. As one of my favorite human beings to walk the face of this earth (Rev. Gerald Buxton) once said, “You, are of inestimable value!” So my encouraging word for the day is this, “live like it!”

Hey folks. I’ve been pretty lagging on the Independence Day photos. I was really feeling a penchant for some funky processing. Like some old-school, americana, kodachrome, filmy, grainy looking stuff. Does that make any sense to you? Well, anyhow. We had the most laid back 4th ever. We were planning to go to Tahoe, since I had to shoot up there the next day, but we decided to just hang out. It was a good idea. We fired up the Radio Flyer and went out to the local fireworks show. Good times were had by all and many sunflower seeds were consumed. Do you like the different look on the processing? Yay or nay?

What can I say? A beautiful couple, absolutely amazing family and friends. It was a nice change of scenery to shoot a wedding down in the Palm Springs area and we had a ton of fun. The wedding party was huge, but super fun. It was hard getting them not to smile. The couple, totally in love with each other. Very Shakespearean. When I walked into the guy’s hotel room and saw a bottle of Absinthe on the nightstand, well, let’s just say I knew we would all be having a good time! I’ll post a few more, as I get the chance. Here’s the teaser shots.
